You wake up in the morning in the heart of the most beautiful city in the world, with the only noises the footsteps and voices of passers-by; you go out and a short walk takes you to the Rialto Bridge or Saint Mark's Square: the guests of the Hotel San Salvador have a rare privilege for a 2-star hotel in Venice, that of staying right in the heart of Venice, in quiet Calle Galeazza, away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and Venetians.

The Hotel San Salvador is surrounded by the most beautiful and celebrated places in Venice. Narrow Venetian alleys and picturesque squares filled with artisan workshops, stores, designer boutiques, "bacari" (the typical Venetian inn) and small restaurants create a "real picture" of Venetian life.

The Rialto Bridge is just 2 minutes from the Hotel San Salvador, with its characteristic botteghe and colorful fruits, vegetables and fish market (on the other side of the bridge). Saint Mark's Square, Venice's splendid living room, is just a 10-minutes walk from the hotel, and offers a marvelous spectacle framed by Saint Mark's Basilica, with its unmistakable Byzantine domes and interior clad in gilded mosaics that are among the most beautiful in Italy and the entire world. Facing it, the tall Saint Mark's Bell tower with the lovely 16th-century loggia in its base. The Doge Palace faces it, a lovely example of Venetian Gothic, once the Doge's residence and the political and administrative heart of Venice. Today, we still admire the incredible salons of the Doge's apartments and the administration of the Serenissima, the Republic that governed Venice until the end of the 18th century, decorated by huge "teleri" (large paintings on canvas) that immortalize the glory of Venice. Experience that adventure of the secret itineraries (by reservation only) that run through the offices of the administration of justice and the "Piombi," the prison that Giacomo Casanova escaped from. To learn more about the history of Venice, visit the Correr Museum, whose entrance is under the long line of porticos of the Procuratie, and that preserves mementos of Venetian culture and a wonderful picture gallery. But to "taste" all the magic of Saint Mark's Square, sit in one of the square's historic cafs, the Florian or Quadri, where Goldoni and Stendahl, Lord Byron and Turner drank their coffee: it's an unforgettable emotion!
