Venice always offers events and shows, if you are interested in getting out of the classic itineraries why not take a look at the Casa dei Tre Oci? The House of the Tre Oci. Here photography has found a home, but the Casa dei tre Oci is not “only” exhibitions. It also hosts workshops, seminars, workshops… 360 degree photography!
Casa dei Tre Oci
We are talking about a splendid 20th century Venetian palace in neo-Gothic style, located on the Giudecca island.
It was designed by the artist Mario De Maria and was also his home and It has always been a place of production and meeting for art and culture.
But why is it called that? it is so called because it has three large windows which are shaped like three large eyes. This three eyes looks towards Piazza San Marco and its colorful basin. Today it is owned and managed by the Venice Foundation and was reopened to the public in 2012 obviously after a laborious and great restoration.
Timetables and tickets
I always recommend checking the information on the site also because due to Covid19 times and booking methods may vary. The cost of the standard ticket is around 13 euros but there are many reductions, while the closing day indicated is Tuesday
Normally their opening hours are from 11:00 to 19:00
How to get to the Giudecca Island
From the Hotel the simplest solution is to take vaporetto number 2 from Piazza San Marco towards the Giudecca Island.
Or you can walk to the Zattere, an area of Venice in the Dorsoduro district. From the Zattere always take vaporetto number 2 towards the Giudecca Island. However in both cases you get off at the vaporetto stop called Zitelle. The stop takes its name from the homonymous Church of the Zitelle located right in front.
Giudecca is precisely the island that is located in front of Piazza San Marco and the Zattere and is part of the city of Venice and its lagoon. I generally get off at the stop called Palanca which is the first stop on the island, as I love walking around the Giudecca and drinking a coffee while enjoying St. Mark’s Square from such a quiet place.
If like me you love photography but you are not super expert, do not worry because exploring, visiting, knowing is part of us and never before do we need joy and beauty like this year.
